Del Mar, CA—April 17, 2002—Humetrix's patented Netissimo® technology could become a critical component in the effort to boost air safety while reducing airport congestion.

Under the government-proposed trusted traveler program, participating travelers would present a special smart personal I.D. card at airport security check-in points, allowing security personnel to confirm a passenger’s identity using the card’s encoded biometric markers (such as a fingerprint or retinal scan).

At that point, Humetrixss Netissimo technology would speed up the necessary online security check, a critical component to airport security.  By using the passenger’s card to automatically connect to designated central databases – such as the FBI, INS, and airline passenger and reservations lists—Netissimo makes it possible to check a traveler’s identity against federal “watch” lists for suspected terrorists.

"With Netissimo, there’s no waiting for personnel to type in network addresses and login information to access those federal databases. The Netissimo software, combined with biometric ID cards, is the fastest technology available to facilitate online security checks," Dr. Bettina Experton, Humetrix’s CEO and founder, announced today.

Netissimo is based on a patented system that provides automated connectivity to the Internet and intranets using smart portable devices—such as smart cards—with PCs, interactive kiosks, PDAs, smart phones or TV set top boxes. The breakthrough technology recently made its consumer product debut with Compaq on Presario PCs with smart card keyboard readers, and is currently at the center of discussions with several companies working on homeland security solutions for both the proposed trusted traveler and transportation worker programs.

As an added benefit, a Netissimo-powered smart ID card can also be used by frequent flyers for fast, easy, secure anywhere access to the Internet, including password-protected frequent flyer, e-mail, banking, and brokerage accounts.

As demonstrated by the Compaq Presario Internet Smart Card Solution powered by Netissimo, the technology automatically connects users to their choice of web sites, and personal online accounts, and auto-launches sites into multiple windows for speed browsing.

"For business travelers in particular, Netissimo is like having the Internet in your pocket while on the road. And you’ll never have to worry about your unique IDs and passwords falling into the wrong hands, as all of your sensitive information is encrypted and PIN-protected—similar to an ATM card—and separate from the travel security information safely stored with the biometrics on the card," Experton explains.
