MAXIMUS® LICENSES NETISSIMO® TECHNOLOGY FROM HUMETRIX®
at CardTech/SecureTech 2001 Conference

Las Vegas—May 15, 2001—Humetrix announced a non-exclusive licensing agreement for use of its Netissimo smart card-based Internet solution to Maximus, one of America's largest government services companies whose list of federal government smart card clients includes the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of State, Veterans Affairs and GSA. Maximus plans to employ the patented Netissimo technology in the implementation of next generation smart card systems for a broad range of applications including healthcare, transportation, and education.

Netissimo's smart card-based application patented system1 enables simple automated access to password-protected Web pages, in addition to other personal bookmarks. The Netissimo PC-based software gives users direct access to selected Web sites, protected pages, and/or personal Web-based accounts.  Insertion of a smart card, powered by the Netissimo application, into a card reader or a Web-enabled phone automatically launches Internet dialup (regardless of ISP setup), and login to one or more selected Internet locations.  Users benefit from unprecedented convenience and simplicity, with no URLs, usernames, or passwords to remember or type.  Card removal from the reader automatically triggers the closing of the open Internet connection and log off from the selected sites.

Christie Mahler, Maximus Director of Intelligence Technologies, said, "We feel the Netissimo application will be an important, value-added feature to the smart card systems we are developing for the government sector.  The convenience and simplicity Netissimo offers will help make smart cards more user-friendly and accessible to those who will be carrying them, and fits in well with our mission of 'helping government serve the people.'"

"The licensing of Netissimo to Maximus, a leader in the government services industry, represents an  important step in extending the use of our technology to a broader range of users," said Dr. Bettina Experton, Humetrix President and CEO. "Maximus is in an ideal position to deploy this Innovative, new consumer Internet tool to enhance government services."

The Netissimo application will be demonstrated in the Maximus/Giesecke & Devrient booth (Booth #927) and in the Humetrix booth (Booth #563) May 15-17, 2001 at the CardTech/SecurTech 2001 Las Vegas show, held at the Sands Expo.
