At Comdex 2000 Humetrix.com announces release of patented netissimo® Autolaunch Internet Connectivity product
Netissimo® Enables Simple, Automated Access to Selected Web Sites and Protected Pages Using Smart Portable Devices
Las Vegas—November 13, 2000—Humetrix.com, Inc. today announced the release of its Netissimo® autolaunch Internet connectivity product that enables automated, easy, and secure Internet access using its patented technology. Netissimo® employs smart cards or other portable smart devices (cell phones, PDAs...) and client-based software, to give users direct access to selected Web sites, protected pages, and/or personal Web-based accounts. Insertion of a smart card, powered by the Netissimo® application, into a card reader or a Web-enabled phone automatically launches Internet dialup (regardless of ISP setup), and login to one or more selected Internet locations. Users benefit from unprecedented convenience and simplicity, with no URLs, usernames, or passwords to remember or type. Card removal from the reader automatically triggers closing of the open Internet connections and log off from the selected sites.
In addition, Humetrix announced the close of a third round of financing from Japanese venture capital firm, BioFrontier Partners (BF), whose corporate investors include Fujitsu. Hinako Schroeter, General Partner of BF commented, "We believe Netissimo® Technology will play a vital role in the future of Web enabled smart phones and other portable devices." Japan already boasts one of the largest per capita uses of cell phones.
Patrick Gauthier, Senior VP of Smart Card Applications at Visa U.S.A. and a Director of Humetrix.com and the Smart Card Forum noted that, "The Netissimo® product launch is especially timely, given the explosive growth of Internet use and the popularity of smart portable devices. Americans are clamoring for simplicity and convenience without compromising privacy, all of which are achieved with Netissimo®. Smart card-based products are now deployed broadly, from government to sectors as diverse as banking (with Visa and American Express "Blue"), pay TV (with DirecTV and AOL TV), and healthcare (with the coming Netissimo® based MedicAlert®product)."
"We believe that Netissimo® will fundamentally change the way businesses and consumers connect to the Internet," said Dr. Bettina Experton, Founder and CEO of Humetrix.com. "Both novices and experienced users want connectivity tools that simplify access to the Internet. Netissimo®'s automated dialup and login encourage users to make it their de facto tool for connecting to the Internet." Netissimo®'s portability gives users the convenience of accessing "their" Internet anytime, anywhere, whether it be to check e-mail, stock trading accounts, or other personal pages. Consumer privacy is also enhanced because the user's Internet accounts and authentication information (such as login names, account numbers and passwords) are securely stored in the smart card.
Dr. Experton notes, "Given the rapid adoption of portable smart devices, such as smart cards and smart phones in the U.S., we believe that the market potential for our products and technology is tremendous. By deploying a customized Netissimo® solution, our corporate clients can directly drive traffic to their sites, build brand awareness, increase loyalty, and establish competitive advantage for their Web-based applications." These opportunities are available to clients in a broad range of vertical markets, such as banking, financial services, e-mailing, wireless telecommunications, and healthcare.
Netissimo® is available for licensing on a stand-alone basis or as part of a complete solution designed, developed, and implemented by Humetrix.com.
