Humetrix.com Receives U.S. Patent for Fundamental Internet Connectivity Process

Patented Process Enables Simple, Automated Access to Internet-Based Records Using Smart Portable Devices

San Diego—November 30, 1999—Humetrix.com, Inc. today announced that it has received a U.S. patent (#5,995,965) covering the process by which a smart portable device can access Internet-based records in a simple, automated manner. The patent, entitled "System and Method for Remotely Accessing User Data Records," covers access to the Internet from smart cards, smart phones, and handheld wireless devices.

Humetrix.com's patented solution utilizes the memory of a smart portable device to store the Internet addresses and authentication information specific for each user. To connect to these locations, the user simply launches the Netissimo® application using his or her personalized.

smart device (e.g., by inserting the smart card in a reader). Netissimo® automatically dials the user's Internet Service Provider, launches the browser, and navigates to the programmed Internet sites. If any of these sites are secure, the smart card automatically provides the user authentication information (e.g., name and password) required to connect the user directly into his or her personal record within each site. Thus, access to the user's Internet-based records is simple, direct, and automated.
