Humetrix Named a 50+ Innovation Leader

Inaugural initiative of AARP and MedCity News showcases companies and people delivering cutting-edge healthcare solutions for the 50+ market

Mountain View, California, April 12, 2017 - Humetrix was announced today as one of the healthcare industry’s 50+ Innovation Leaders, an AARP initiative administered by MedCity News to recognize entrepreneurs, companies and ideas behind innovative new products and services for Americans aged 50 and older.

The winners of the inaugural 50+ Innovation Leaders program were revealed today during the AARP Innovation@50+ Live Pitch event by representatives of MedCity News and AARP.

“AARP works to empower people to choose how they live as they age,” said Jeffrey Makowka, AARP’s director of market innovation. “We are pleased to join MedCity News in showcasing entrepreneurs who are driving change and improvements in the healthcare industry for the more than 100 million Americans aged 50 and older. We congratulate the remarkable winners who have been recognized by their peers for their innovation leadership.”

In late 2016, MedCity News and AARP issued a call for nominations for entrepreneurs, investors, companies and nonprofit collaborations. Determined by a reader vote, the winners include leaders and companies offering healthcare delivery, medication management and smart wearables. Based on its ground-breaking health services research on aging and chronic care software development experience, Humetrix has developed a series of award-winning mHealth platforms designed to empower 50+ individuals to better manage their healthcare in the US and around the world. Our mobile platforms include:

iBlueButton - winner of three HHS industry innovation awards including this year’s CMS FHIR competition, uniquely decodes Medicare claims to automatically generate a user’s longitudinal medical history securely on their own device. Medicare beneficiaries see on average seven different providers a year and the ability to share their health history at every point of care can be life- and cost- saving.
TENSIO - helps more than 75 million American adults with hypertension better manage blood pressure. TENSIO uniquely integrates data from self-monitoring devices, the user's specific medications and diagnoses, with an onboard expert system to generate ongoing notifications and alerts on the user's smartphone and Apple Watch. TENSIO won the 2016 UK NHS Test Bed innovation competition.
SOS QR - for active adults experiencing an emergency at home or abroad, the multi-language SOS QR allows emergency responders to immediately and securely access - in their own language - users' critical health information while automatically alerting their emergency contacts. SOS QR received the 2016 FCC Chairman’s Advancements in Accessibility Award, and has also been selected by the NHS as an innovative technology for deployment in the NHS Sheffield region.
