SAN DIEGO, California – September 9, 2011

Among the 200 public and private sector organizations to participate in the Sixth Annual National Health IT Week (September 12 – 16, 2011) in Washington, D.C., Humetrix is pleased to be one of the few companies selected to demonstrate its innovative mHealth technology solutions at the Capitol Hill Health Information Technology Showcase on September 12, 2011. This event will take place in the Kennedy Caucus Room, SR-325 Russell Senate Office Building,Washington, D.C., from 10:00am-2:30pm.

Initiated in 2006 by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), National Health IT Week has emerged as a landmark occasion for using health IT as part of the overall solution to improve America’s healthcare as a bipartisan, federally led, market driven initiative. The September 12 Capitol Hill Technology Showcase is a unique event where policy makers and IT companies will meet to further the place of innovation and today’s latest technology on the Federal healthcare IT agenda.

Eighteen months after the historic vote of the HITECH Act and the subsequent adoption of the first stage Federal requirements for meaningful use of electronic health records, innovative technology solutions are needed more than ever to meet some of the most important healthcare IT needs. One of these key needs is to give health care providers practical and easy to use means for real time access to up to date patient health information wherever their patients received care, so they can deliver coordinated and cost-effective care. New health care delivery models indeed rely on IT tools to connect multiple health care settings with disparate and non-interoperable IT systems. On the other hand, healthcare IT also has to deliver on the fundamental need to place patients at the center and in control of their own health care in giving them anytime and anywhere access to their own electronic health records (EHRs), and practical control over who they authorize to have access to these records.

Humetrix mobile Blue Button Exchange solutions deliver immediately implementable solutions to meet these two fundamental healthcare needs for easy and anywhere provider access and exchange of EHRs and practical patient-controlled access to their own health care information. Using ubiquitous mobile devices such as smartphones, computer tablets or USB flash drives embedded with its innovative mobile technology, Humetrix will demonstrate on Capitol Hill how it optimizes the Federal Blue Button and NHIN Direct programs to give patients and their providers the practical and innovative health IT utilities needed to help deliver now on the goals of the HITECH Act for optimum coordinated and cost effective health care.
