San Diego, CA – October 30, 2012. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors, in a public ceremony held in its Chambers, declared Tuesday October 30 as "Humetrix Day" in honor of the company’s award winning iBlueButton® technology that provides to millions of Americans mobile, anywhere and secure access to their online health summaries and medical history. In the photo to the right are Fred McClain, Steve Mickelsen, Dr Bettina Experton, County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, Natasha Josefowitz and Dr Christopher Burrow. The County’s proclamation acknowledges the ability of the iBlueButton apps to greatly simplify the retrieval, presentation and exchange of health records, allowing consumers to be better engaged with their healthcare. With iBlueButton, secure and immediate data sharing with their healthcare providers is accessible to 48 million Medicare beneficiaries and nearly 20 million Veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. military and their families and to a growing number of subscribers to private-sector insurance and other providers who are implementing the Federal Blue Button initiative to give Americans easy access to their health records. "Although our current iBlueButton apps serve best
Medicare beneficiaries by giving them access to a rich and actionable medical history with the decoding of Medicare claim data, our apps also allow users to access their Blue Button records from the VA, TRICARE, Aetna and RelayHealth, with support for more data holders as they become Blue Button enabled," according to Humetrix CEO Dr. Bettina Experton.
Dr. Experton went on to say "following Humetrix’s first place award in the Federal Government Blue Button Challenge announced earlier this month, it is wonderful to also get this important recognition from San Diego County, a thriving technology region which has been Humetrix home for over twenty years". The iBlueButton apps – including native iPhone apps for patients and a native iPad app for physicians – work in tandem to improve patient-provider communication, in real-time, at the point of care, where immediate access to patient up to date information is critical for patients to receive optimal medical care. "An Android version of iBlueButton with full cross platform compatibility, to allow patients with Android phones to exchange their records with their physician’s iPad, will also be offered later this year," Experton added.
In its Proclamation, the County of San Diego stated that it is "committed to recognizing and honoring those companies that facilitate consumer access to relevant information and Humetrix is one such company". With a total population of over four million residents, San Diego County’s population is greater than 22 states in the nation.
